you cannot hold me captive
welcome to Survival of the Fittest
In the year 3096 humanity left earth forever, much of its history lost due to wars and disaster.
The only leftovers were seized by the last human government—
The Dimiran Empire, formed from the weatlhiest and most advanced conglomerates on the planet.
They quickly colonized seven new homeplanets, each one headed by a different company and humans began to prosper once again.
Now, in the year 5247 the empire thrives on nine planets, but within the last ten years a new form of "entertainment" has shown up within the empire.
Under the guise of scientific study, the government has gathered criminals, slaves, debtors, or contracted individuals to help study the ecosystems of foreign planets.
Those in the experiment are genetically altered to become humanoid monsters with traits similar to animals from earth.
They are then sent to varying planets where they must adapt to survive.
Their struggles are watched through constant livestreams for entertainment.
Unfortunately, you are one these experiments.
Sorry for this.
The premise for this roleplay is that you are a human from one of the nine homeplanets who, due to varying circumstances, are inducted into the experiment, becoming mutated and left to survive in an alien ecosystem. You go through growth spurts to gain adaptations, or improve/modify existing ones. You get to choose the planet you wish to land on, but the landing pods aren't stable so where you land on the planet will be random.

It was dark. Kip gradually started to become conscious after a long night’s rest. Eyelids slowly parting, ears twitching. She expected to hear the tweeting of birds, and soon after, the voices of her parents in the kitchen, along with the smell of freshly cooked breakfast. But there was only the sound of waves. And it smelled awful. Kip opened her eyes in alarm. Instead of seeing sunshine beam in through her window, all she saw above her were gray skies. She sat up, and shrieked a bit as she realized she was laying in some sort of sticky substance. “Ugh! Gross!” she blurted out in disgust. She got up from out of the gooey pool and shook herself out, pieces of gel flinging all over the place. “Blech,” she grunted. She looked around, and could only see dark, almost-black water for miles. Descending from above were rock pillars covered in vines. The air felt thick. She saw that she was sitting on a pile of cold, wet stones covered in foliage. Suddenly, she remembered what had happened.
Several weeks ago, Kipekee went on an evening stroll through the woods near her family home. She went deep into the woods all the time, and she had never encountered anybody. She didn’t think she ever would. But that all changed on...that one night. All she remembers is that she was walking, and suddenly she was pinned down by a heavy force. She screamed, hands were tightened around her throat, and she blacked out. She woke up with sharp, aching pain in the back of her head, then went right back to sleep.
Whatever happened those few weeks, she was unconscious for most of the time. She would remember waking up for short periods of time, but too tired to fully realize where she was or who she was with. She did recall tall men in long white coats, shelves of books, green lights, and painful sensations. And the sound of her own screams. It had been quite a while since it happened now, so Kip shouldn’t have kept waking up still hoping to hear the sounds of home. She should’ve been able to wake up, remembering that she wasn’t with her family anymore. Every time she woke, she hoped it was from a bad dream. But it wasn’t. And it hurt. It hurt so, so much. It was agony.
Tears filled her eyes and she looked down in the water. She let out a shocked gasp. Staring back at her was some kind of deformed dog...with hints of fox? She kneeled down, and started to sob. “I look like a mutt...I look like a filthy, mangy, inbred mutt!” She did nothing but stare at her reflection for a long period of time, little splashes being made when her tears hit the water. She finally realized what this was. This was The Great Game, wasn’t it? This was the television show that her friends always told her about, but her parents didn’t allow her to watch at home. The one she was warned about...and she didn’t listen.
Thoughts ran through her head- Would she ever look pretty again? What if she never saw her family again? What would her parents and friends think of her if they saw her like this? What if they were watching her right now? What if she died here? There’s no way she could survive here. What if her loved ones had to watch her die? She cried, and cried, and cried, until she could cry no more. She could only stare back at her fuzzy face and her long, perky snout. She just stared for a few minutes, finding it difficult to process what had happened to her. This isn’t going to help, she thought to herself. Wallowing in self-pity isn’t going to get me anywhere. She didn’t want to accept her situation...she really, really didn’t. But she couldn’t do anything about it. Tears weren’t going to change things back to the way they were. It’s not like she could though, right? She was a child in a world full of things that could kill her around every corner. She wasn’t strong or smart enough to survive on her own without help.
Or was she?
She stared deeper into her reflection. She was never strong as a human, no. But now she was canine. She had keener vision that could probably spot a predator or a resource from a distance. Her strong legs could help her run (or swim) fast if she ever needed to escape quickly from danger. Her new fangs surely had a strong bite to use for self-defense. And most importantly, her sense of hearing and smell must be so much sharper now- she could escape monsters before they even found her, simply by listening or smelling for their location. And it would be an excellent way to track food, too. “Keep your chin up, KipKip,” her father would always tell her, “as long as you keep your mind and heart in the right place, you can accomplish anything.” Kip felt a small spark of optimism. Maybe there was a chance after all. As long as she kept herself safe, ate, and drank, maybe she could win this thing. But it’s so...unlikely. She thought to herself. No, she thought back, I can’t talk to myself like that. I need to try. She needed to- her loved ones were counting on her.
She noticed that not only was she hungry, but her mouth was dry as well. She needed to eat something- as well as quench her thirst. There didn’t seem to be any sign of land. Was she really expected to swim for hours until she found somewhere to stay? Oh well, this is an ocean. The water is salty, but it will have to do as drinking water for now. And chances are, there were plenty of fish below these waters. But there could easily be sharks and eels, too. Kip shuddered at the thought.
She knew she couldn’t stay in the safety of her rock-pile forever, but the fear of the unknown was getting to her. She wasn’t sure where to start. She hoped she could survive.

The sunlight flickered in the sky as it shone brightly over the ocean only to be broken up by the pillars and the shadows it cast over parts of the sea around her. She had been lucky to land on a pile of rocks that was above the water and what laid below lulling in wait it's toxic nature only to be hinted by the sour and heavy scent that lingered above the water.[break][break]
As she would look and observe around her it seemed that there wasn't much to the tiny island that was around her, if you could even call it that. The rocks obviously belonged to one of the pillars from the light brown coloring and the smooth fine-grained texture. Though the key difference belonged in the short grown, orange, and fuzzy moss that grew over it like fuzz on a pup to the point that it was even soft to the touch.[break][break]
Looking down there was a clear ring around the rocks above the water revealing clear blue water and the dark burgundy seagrass that becomes darker closer to the soft crystalline sand it grew in, white, pink, blue, and a variety of gemlike colors that gave it an almost iridescent look that appeared like ivory until the light hit it. However, this view into the ocean would not travel very far as soon the beautiful waters were blocked by a dark, almost red fog that blanketed the rest of the ocean only being broken by the same titanic pillars that filtered the sunlight that allowed for some parts of the fog to become more translucent but still providing some difficulty. [break][break]
It seemed if she wanted to avoid breathing whatever it was when she was swimming she would have to go underneath the surface despite what unknown things could be lurking beneath. From what could be seen around the edges it didn't seem too deep, only 5 meters before seagrass and sand.[break][break]
Up above her, the pillars seemed almost impossible to climb, but if she looked closely it looked like there was one about half a mile from where she was that had vines that reached lower down the pillars than any other. It would require some climbing but there was a thick patch that was only 6 meters above the mist unlike some of the other vines she could see on the nearby pillars which just teased the edge of her vision and regardless there was the daunting fact that the top to none of them was visible nor was their edges.[break][break]
The sunlight would sparkle just a bit tinting the purple sky as it had slowly become bluer by the moment, it was seemingly sunrise which either meant that some creatures would be going to bed soon and others would be preparing to start their day. Though the eerie silence was only broken by a loud cry that echoed from behind her and through the ocean valley like a deep song before eventually fading away only to be left in her memory. [break][break]
With that still fresh within the morning hours it only left a few questions for the survivalist, would she go swimming and look for another safe place around the water or would she attempt to escape by climbing one of the pillars, though there was also the option of staying where she was and plenty more if she could come up with another idea.
Plenty to consider, even more to caution Kipekee [attr="class","snakeEyesCredit"] SELKIE[newclass=.se-LIGHTVER] --snakeEyesBG:#ececec; --snakeEyesLightBG:#f3f3f3; --snakeEyesBorder:#ddd; --snakeEyesText:#6a6a6a; --snakeEyesLightText:#aaa; --snakeEyesH2:#3a3a3a; --snakeEyesShadow:#fff; [/newclass] [newclass=.se-DARKVER] --snakeEyesBG:#333; --snakeEyesLightBG:#444; --snakeEyesBorder:#666; --snakeEyesText:#aaa; --snakeEyesLightText:#888; --snakeEyesH2:#eee; --snakeEyesShadow:#222; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesPost] width:500px; background-color:#ececec; background-color:var(--snakeEyesBG); border-radius:10px; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap; align-items:center; justify-content:center; position:relative; overflow:hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader] display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap; overflow:hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader img] width:100px; height:100px; border-radius:100%; padding:7.5px; background-color:var(--snakeEyesLightBG);border:3px solid #ddd; border:3px solid var(--snakeEyesBorder); border-right:3px solid var(--snakeEyesAccent); border-radius-top-left:0; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader div] height:205px; width:205px; border-radius:100%; display:flex; align-items:center; flex-shrink:0; justify-content:center; margin-left:-35px; margin-top:-35px; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader div:after] content:''; position:absolute; height:190px; width:190px; border:5px dashed var(--snakeEyesAccent); border-radius:100%; animation:8s linear infinite snakeEyesSpin; animation-play-state:paused; } @keyframes snakeEyesSpin { 0% { transform:rotate(0deg); } 100% { transform:rotate(360deg); }[/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesPost:hover .snakeEyesHeader div:after] animation-play-state:running; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader span] height:170px; display:flex; flex-flow:column nowrap; justify-content:flex-end; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader h1] width:280px; height:75px; margin:25px; text-align:left; font:800 50px/50px Montserrat; text-transform:uppercase; color:var(--snakeEyesAccent); text-shadow: -1px -1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), 1px -1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), -1px 1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), 1px 1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow); [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesHeader h2] margin:-20px 0px 0px 0px; width:280px; font:bold 30px 'Signerica Fat'; color:#3a3a3a; color:var(--snakeEyesH2); text-shadow: -1px -1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), 1px -1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), -1px 1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow), 1px 1px 0 var(--snakeEyesShadow); } @font-face { font-family:Signerica Fat; src:url(//dl.dropbox.com/s/o5tlpkcxt7qwgj1/Signerica_Fat.ttf) format('truetype');[/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesBody div] padding:50px; margin:25px; border-radius:10px; text-align:justify; background-color:var(--snakeEyesLightBG); color:#6a6a6a; color:var(--snakeEyesText); font:400 11px/15px roboto; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesBody div:nth-child(2)] color:var(--snakeEyesLightText); text-align:justify; padding:10px 25px; margin:25px; display:flex; justify-content:space-between; align-items:center; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesBody div a] font:800 11px/15px roboto; color:var(--snakeEyesAccent); padding:0px 0px 0px 25px; margin:0px; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesBody b] font:700 11px/15px roboto; color:var(--snakeEyesAccent); [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesBody i] color:var(--snakeEyesLightText); border-bottom:1px solid var(--snakeEyesAccent); [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesCredit] font:700 7px roboto; margin-left:425px; [/newclass] [newclass=.snakeEyesCredit a] font:700 7px roboto!important; [/newclass]

A shiver tingled along Kip’s spine as she heard the cry from the ocean depths below her. There was no way of knowing what it could have been. Kip’s first instinct told her to get out of the water as soon as she could- this pile of rocks was not a safe place to be. The pillars above did not lead to any land (as far as she could see), but there was a chance that maybe there was.
However, Kip did not want to risk passing through the mist. She wasn’t sure what it was, but there was a distinct tang to it’s scent that made Kip feel sickly. Even if she held her breath while climbing the vine, she wasn’t sure how long she could hold her breath, or if it would even prevent from whatever was in that mist from affecting her. Her mind was set on climbing the pillar, but she decided she was going to think on it before making a decision.
Kip’s stomach growled. Escape was important, but first and foremost she was hungry. There was bound to be fish in this ocean. She almost smiled at the thought, but she knew it wouldn’t taste nearly as good the way her parents prepared it.
But the cry from earlier made her feel paralyzed. She didn’t want to set a single paw into the ocean and swim too far away from what she knew to be her only safe haven. Her stomach growled again. Kip decided hunger was stronger than fear, and that she needed to take some sort of action. She hovered her paw over the water. She couldn’t bring herself to touch it. What if the water had the same sickly qualities as the mist? What if whatever made that cry was sitting below her right now…?
Kip contemplated for about 15 minutes, then withdrew her hand. A pervasive sense of nervousness filled her body and her eyes started to tear up from the rising sense of anxiety within her. Her heart beat faster and she wrung her hands.
I can’t do this. I can’t be like this. I can’t sit here scared the whole day. I need to get a move on...I need to just take a look and see if it’s safe. She leaned over and dipped her face in the water, examining the seafloor below her.

With the sounds of the beast fading away it was smart to take advantage of the clear area around the rocks to peer into the water as it would wrap around her face, the temperate waters most likely a surprise as its oddly comforting embrace would be accompanied with the rest of the water appearing as clear as it had from her little island. It all seemed the same as the same fields of crimson grasses would stretch on for as far as could be seen, obscuring vision to the horizon as it grew too tall in some patches.[break][break]
In the passing seconds, one thing became clear as the absence of the sickly scent had become replaced with something sweeter that was muted by the waters but it was still clearly there. Without the same painful tinge in the scent of the air in the water, it could be assumed it wasn't toxic. It almost seemed placid as the reddish grass swayed in the current and the sands sparkled where brief light hit.[break][break]
There was even a lack of any creature in the distance that could've given way to the sound that had echoed through the region just moments ago. This fair sea seemed odd but with the plentiful amount of seagrass there was bound to be things hiding within them and she just had to find them.[break][break]
A sudden noise would suggest that something had found her first though as it popped out of a small hole at the bottom of the rocks underwater. A wide mouth that sat agape in awe as it seemed just as equally confused by a sudden face in its way. Time was frozen for the fishy creature as its six whiskers, three on each side, floated stagnantly in the water while his eyes wouldn't pull away from hers as he would even start to turn over his back to look at her because of the angle he had exited his apparent home underneath the rocks. Even if it had malicious intent for her it wasn't obvious as it seemed like a mindless creature as it moved slowly forward in suspension and his eyes locked in surprise.[break][break]
While there was a brief time to think and weigh her options at the moment it was always important to remember he who moved first had the advantage, so long as they use it to make a proper move. Now who would move first, the large crimson fish or the survivalist?

Kip stared into the fish's beady eyes. For a brief moment, Kip wasn't sure if she should act. The fish looked harmless, but there was something about the gape of its jaw that made it look more than it seemed. Was it thinking about something? She snapped out of it- she decided she was being stupid and paranoid to think that a small fish could hurt her. Hunger overcame her, and she acted out. Kip quickly leapt forward into the water, sinking her claws deep into the fish's flesh, keeping it firm within her grasp.
